The eighth China-Eurasia Expo kicked off in Urumqi City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Wednesday morning.
The expo invited Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan as the guest countries, and Beijing, Shandong Province, and Sichuan Province as the guest provinces and cities. 23 countries, three regions, and one international organization have established national (regional) pavilions and image pavilions.
Themed "New Opportunities of Silk Road, New Vitality for Eurasian Cooperation," the expo will run until Sunday. It has drawn over 1,900 participants from 50 countries, regions and international organizations and showcased over 6,000 varieties of products.
The five-day expo covers an area of 140,000 square meters, with four major exhibition zones: investment cooperation, international exhibitions, special industries and equipment manufacturing.
The expo will feature activities to facilitate investment between China and other countries – including Russia, those in Central Asia, and those belonging to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership – in the fields of farm produce, textile and apparel, and the energy and chemicals sector.
The expo is the only national comprehensive exhibition where China and countries in the Eurasian region can carry out multi-field exchanges and cooperation.
Since 2011, the China-Eurasia Expo has held seven sessions, yielding fruitful results. During the past expos, more than 12,200 domestic and foreign exhibitors from over 70 countries and regions attended, attracting a total of 2.16 million visitors.
