Shanghai Port beat Wuhan Three Towns 2-0 in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, on Tuesday, to secure a ninth straight win and maintain their lead at the top of the Chinese Super League (CSL) table.

Although Port were playing on the road, they grabbed the advantage off the opening whistle. Matheus Jussa intercepted Three Towns' pass in the midfield in the 14th minute and immediately picked out Oscar with a surgical through ball. The Brazilian midfielder then scored between two defenders to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Matias Vargas added the second goal for Port in the 36th minute. Three Towns defender Deng Hanwen missed the ball when he tried to clear a cross by the visitors. Vargas didn't waste the opportunity and fired the ball into the net.

Three Towns appeared to get on the scoreboard two minutes later, but Tao Qianglong was offside before his volley and the effort was denied by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Port are five points ahead of city rivals Shanghai Shenhua after their latest win, but have played one more game. Shenhua will host Meizhou Hakka on Wednesday.

Other games on Tuesday (home teams listed first):

Henan 1-0 Qingdao West Coast

Nantong Zhiyun 1-1 Tianjin Jinmen Tiger

Shenzhen Peng City 3-2 Zhejiang
