England will play Slovakia in the Round 16 at Euro 2024 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Sunday. The "Three Lions" have been under continuous criticism since the tournament began, especially after scoring only two goals in three group games.

England reached the knockout stage as the leaders of Group C. They defeated Serbia 1-0 in their tournament opener, but had two draws with Denmark (1-1) and Slovenia (0-0). The team managed to avoid facing heavyweights like France, Spain, Germany and Portugal early at Euro 2024, but their midfielder Marc Guehi believed there is no favorite side of the draw.

"About the draw, I think everyone has seen in this competition that I don't think there is a favorable side of the draw," Guehi told reporters. "Every team, every opponent that you come up against is really tough to play against. But I think we just need to remain calm. That's the environment we set ourselves. We put pressure on ourselves but it is a calm and focused environment and we just need to focus on one thing at a time."

Guehi has been one of England's best-performing players at Euro 2024 and one of the reasons that they only allowed one goal in three games.

"It is going to be another tough challenge to deal with," he said. "We just have to be ready for those challenges and match whatever intensity they bring. What builds confidence is togetherness, performances, the fact we haven't lost a game yet which I think is really important."

Slovakia came in third in Group E behind Romania and Belgium. They upset the "Red Devils" 1-0 in their first game and held Romania 1-1 in the third game.

"I would like to face my teammates from Newcastle, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier. It's a country where I live and a league where I play and I would like to play them," Slovakia's goalkeeper Martin Dubravka said. "Look at the team we have. There are plenty of young players who are already experienced and play in good leagues. It's important to believe and have faith in yourselves. I have said it from the beginning: it's important to have that kind of healthy confidence."

"Our first goal was achieved: it was important to get out from the group. The opponent now is tough, but you have to believe in your strength and to have the highest ambitions," he added.
