The Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Link is one of the most challenging cross-sea cluster projects in the world. The 24-kilometer link comprises one undersea tunnel, two bridges and two artificial islands. Among them, the Shenzhong Bridge boasts several world records, including the longest span for an offshore steel box girder suspension bridge at 1,666 meters, the highest navigational clearance of 76.5 meters, the heaviest sea anchor at 1 million tonnes, and the highest flutter critical wind speed for a bridge at 88 meters per second. The tunnel of the Shenzhong Link is the longest and widest undersea steel-shell immersed tunnel in the world, spanning around 6.8 km with four lanes in each direction. The Shenzhong Link will bridge the western and eastern sides of the Pearl River Estuary, promoting balanced development of the region.
