The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned waves of up to three meters were "possible along some coasts" following a major earthquake that struck off the coast of central Peru on Friday.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured the quake at magnitude 7.2 with a depth of 28 km. The agency initially said there was no tsunami threat.
There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
