A record total of 11 Chinese players, including two men and nine women, will participate in the singles events at Wimbledon that will begin on July 1 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
Zhang Zhizhen, as the first male seeded player (No. 32) from China at Wimbledon, will play Maxime Janvier of France, who made the Grand Slam tournament through qualifying, in the men's singles first round.
Shang Juncheng will play in the men's singles event as well and his opponent is another qualifier, Cristian Garin of Chile.
Zheng Qinwen, as the lone female Chinese seeded player (No. 8), will face Lulu Sun of New Zealand in the first round. Zheng went as far as the third round at Wimbledon in 2022.

The reigning men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain will play qualifier Mark Lajal of Estonia in the first round. The tournament's No. 1 seed, Jannik Sinner of Italy, will face Yannick Hanfmann of Germany in his first match. Twenty-four-time Grand Slam winner, second-seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia will play a qualifier, Vit Kopriva of the Czech Republic in the first round.
The defending women's singles champion Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic is the No. 6 seed at Wimbledon this year and she will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain in the first round. First-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland will play Sofia Kenin of the U.S. in her first match.
