After seven years of construction, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan link finally opened to traffic on June 30. Spanning 24 kilometers across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it comprises two bridges, two artificial islands and one undersea tunnel. The large-scale infrastructure will significantly cut travel time between the two cities and help balance regional economic development.
