Located in the estuary of the Luoyang River in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, Luoyang Bridge is known as one of the "Four Famous Ancient Bridges of China." Built in 1053 in the Northern Song Dynasty, it was China's first cross-sea stone bridge. Its construction employed a number of innovative techniques, such as raft foundations and oyster reef bases, to overcome the numerous challenges. At 1,200 meters long, the bridge showcases the craftsmanship of its ancient builders and reflects Quanzhou's historical prominence as a key port on the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Thanks to its exceptional design and engineering, Luoyang Bridge has survived centuries of storms and remains standing to this day.
