Located on the ancient Silk Road, the Pamir Plateau covers an area of around 100,000 square kilometers from the westernmost point of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to parts of Tajikistan and Afghanistan. With an average elevation of more than 4,000 meters and all its major peaks sitting at over 6,000 meters, the plateau boasts mountain glaciers, vast freshwater reserves, and breathtaking scenery, including the "Father of Ice Mountains" – Muztag Ata.
