It is believed that the upcoming 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will forge more consensus and deepen cooperation among all parties, make a positive contribution to the security, stability, development and revitalization of all countries and the building of a global community with a shared future, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday during a regular press briefing.

From July 2 to 6, Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the SCO summit in Astana, Kazakhstan and pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

During the summit, Xi will exchange views with leaders of participating countries on deepening cooperation and major international and regional issues and make plans for the future development of the SCO, Mao said.

The upcoming summit is the most important event under the SCO framework this year, Mao noted.

After the summit, China will take the rotating presidency of the organization for 2024 and 2025, and it is willing to work with all parties to deepen cooperation in politics, security, economy and trade as well as people-to-people exchanges, Mao said.

China aims to promote building a closer SCO community with a shared future, bring more benefits for regional people and contribute to lasting world peace and common prosperity, she added.
