Beryl, the first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season, has intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane,threatening the southeast Caribbean with life-threatening winds and storm surge. In Bridgetown, residents lined up at gas stations and crowded supermarkets to buy food, water and supplies. Barbados, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Tobago are all under hurricane warnings, while Martinique and Dominica have tropical storm warnings or watches.
