Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to new Australian Governor-General Samantha Mostyn on Monday.

Xi pointed out that the healthy and steady development of the China-Australia relationship not only suits the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries and their people, but also contributes to regional and world peace, stability, development and prosperity.

He added that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Australia relations and stands ready to work with the Australian side to build a more mature, stable and fruitful China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and seeking common ground while shelving differences, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
