The Imperial Palaces of Beijing and Shenyang were inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1987 and 2004 respectively. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Shenyang Palace's inscription on the World Heritage List, and a series of exhibitions are being held at the Shenyang Palace Museum to celebrate the occasion.

The Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang was built in the 17th and 18th centuries, representing the founding stages of the Qing Dynasty before it expanded its power base to central China and moved the capital to Beijing.

The Shenyang Palace then became auxiliary to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. It is still of great architectural and historical significance and stands as a testament to the history of the Qing Dynasty and the cultural traditions of the Manchu and other peoples of northern China.
