Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Kazakhstan for a state visit and to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted a welcome ceremony for President Xi in Astana on Wednesday. After the ceremony, the two leaders held talks at the presidential palace in Astana. During the meeting, Xi said China is ready to build a China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future. They also attended the opening ceremony of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and jointly met the press.
