Starting June 1, a new freight train route has been added to the network between China and Europe. Trains are scheduled to depart from Xi'an in northwest China, exit the country via Horgos Port in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, pass through Kazakhstan, cross the Caspian Sea, and reach Baku, Azerbaijan.
