President Xi, Tokayev attend inauguration of Beijing Language and Culture University branch in Astana

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended a ceremony in Astana on Wednesday to inaugurate the Kazakhstan branch of the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU).

The Chinese president is in Astana for a state visit and to attend the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Tokayev speaks fluent Chinese and is a distinguished alumnus of BLCU.
