China's Zhu Xueying eyes trampoline gold at Paris Games

Chinese trampoline gymnast Zhu Xueying is aiming high ahead of the upcoming Paris Games after taking part in the country's Olympic Trials at Tsinghua University last month.

Three years ago, Zhu claimed the gold medal in her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020, and followed up that achievement with an individual title at her first Asian Games in Hangzhou last year.

The 26-year-old has maintained her momentum this season with victories at the Varna and Baku stops of the Trampoline World Cup to solidify her standing in the sport.

Zhu's career has seen her complete a trampoline grand slam after winning gold medals at the Olympics, World Championships, World Cup, and Asian Games.

According to Zhu, the core strength is the most important element of her routines because in the air, without equipment, somersaults depend on a gymnast's own strength.

"My parents are often afraid that they might affect my performance, so they prefer not talk to me about anything at home," Zhu said.

"And even though I have many achievements in the past, I think it is important not to carry my last performance into a new competition, as I can always keep improving through hard work," she added.
