Chinese national broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) held a cultural exchange event on Friday at the Nauruz Palace in Tajikistan's capital city Dushanbe.

CMG President Shen Haixiong said at the opening ceremony that China and Tajikistan share deep historical ties dating back to the Silk Road era over 2,000 years ago.

He noted that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought new vitality to the ancient Silk Road nations, including Tajikistan. The recently signed cooperation memorandum between CMG and the Tajik National Radio and Television Committee is a testament to the growing partnership between the two countries.

Sattoriyon Matlubahon Amonzoda, Tajikistan's minister of culture, emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges, particularly media cooperation, in enhancing mutual trust and understanding between the two nations.

She praised the various forms of collaboration, such as cultural days, science and education centers, and cultural and technological achievement exhibitions, which have opened new avenues for dialogue and the exchange of values.

The event featured a musical performance by students and teachers from the Tajik National Conservatory, who played traditional Chinese instruments and Tajik national instruments to perform classic Tajik tunes "Friendship" and "Silk Road Symphony," which symbolize the enduring friendship between the two countries.

The "Seeing China Together" joint media interview campaign was launched on the same day. The initiative will see Tajik journalists travel across China, experiencing the unique charm of the country through interviews, observations and research.
