Wantuan is a must-try local delicacy of Lyuliang City in north China's Shanxi Province. The jelly textured wheat or buckwheat flour dish is served cold with multiple seasonings.

The making of wantuan is quite simple but time consuming. It is made by mixing warm salty water with flour until it becomes a smooth paste; this is then steamed and cooled.

Bowls of wantuan are commonly seasoned with sesame, crushed peanuts, garlic water, vinegar and chili oil. Then person eating the jelly-like starchy snack slices or breaks it into cubes or bars.

The dish can be seen everywhere on streets and markets in Lyuliang.
