Wang Xinyu of China defeated Harriet Dart of Britain 2-5, 7-6, 6-3 in a women's singles third-round match at the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Saturday, advancing to the grasscourt tournament's round of 16 for the first time in her career.

The result also matched Wang's best performance in the singles bracket at any of the four Grand Slams, after she previously reached the last 16 at the U.S. Open in 2023.

Wang came back to win both the second and third sets, including taking six straight games to overturn a 3-0 deficit in the deciding set. Her next opponent will be No. 21 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine, who eliminated 10th-seeded Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 6-1, 7-6(4).

Saturday also witnessed one of the biggest upsets of this year's Wimbledon Championships as Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan dumped out top-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

"At some point I was playing fearless," Putintseva said. "I was just, 'I can do it I have to believe 100 percent, I have nothing to lose, just go for it.' Also my coach told me: 'No matter which shot you're doing, believe 100 percent and just follow.' It's when the turning point happened. I started to play really, really good. Today I'm happy, extra happy, because she didn't lose it; I took it. I was playing really well. This is for me the most important."

Also on Saturday, No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan secured an easy win over Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-0, 6-1.
