The 226-meter stretch of dike breached on China's second-largest freshwater lake, Dongting Lake, was sealed at 10:31 p.m. on Monday night.

A dike breach occurred on Dongting Lake last Friday and expanded to 226 meters, causing 47.64 square kilometers of the embankment area to be flooded and resulting in the urgent evacuation of 7,680 people.
The emergency rescue teams implemented a strategy of "rotating shifts with people resting while machines continued working," enabling them to work around the clock to seal the breach.
