The annual Cross-Straits Youth Development Forum has officially opened in the city of Hangzhou in eastern China's Zhejiang Province to promote ties among young people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Some 700 participants from Taiwan, mainly students, are attending the forum to experience life on the mainland firsthand. Some participants shared their thoughts on the barriers set on travel to the mainland by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan and the importance of knowing the real mainland.
