Chinese President Xi Jinping, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended a ceremony honoring the achievements of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). During the ceremony, he presented a flag of honor to an artillery company of the PLA, which was awarded with the honorary title of "Model Rocket Artillery Company." In another event, Xi presented a certificate of order to He Hongjun, promoting him to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China. Tuesday's events took place three weeks ahead of the 90th anniversary of the PLA on August 1.
