The "China Sci-Tech Innovation Gala" was launched by China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing on July 10. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, attended the event and jointly launched the ceremony with Lin Xin, vice minister and secretary general at the Ministry of Science and Technology; Wang Jinzhan, secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology; Yu Aihua, deputy secretary of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Anhui Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Commission; and Zhang Hongwen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Hefei Municipal Committee. Members of CMG's editorial board, Xue Jijun, Jiang Wenbo and Zhou Zhenhong, also attended the event.

CMG has set up an "academician science advisory panel" to create high-quality, rich sci-tech programs. Multiple members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering have been invited as the first batch of "academician science advisors."

Xue said in his speech that the "China Sci-Tech Innovation Gala" is a sci-tech festival with "new quality productive forces" as the keyword and that CMG will plan more innovative programs to tell the stories of China's scientific and technological innovation to the world.

Zhang said in his speech that the "China Sci-Tech Innovation Gala" is not only a showcase but also an encouragement for Hefei, the city, which will thereby continue to promote the deep integration of sci-tech and industrial innovation.

The gala brings together the annual hot spots and interprets the "inspiring soul" of science and technology in an imaginative way. Four new programs are released by CMG, focusing on the wonderful stories of China's sci-tech innovation.

CMG's first "sci-tech innovation observation post" was inaugurated at the event. Starting in Hefei, the capital city of east China's Anhui Province, the first batch of 10 such posts is to be established all over the country, presenting diverse sci-tech achievements from various regions.
