Beryl leaves millions of Texans without power as dangerous heat hits the region

About 2.7 million customers lost power across Texas, U.S. amid surging temperatures with intense humidity, more than 36 hours after Beryl made landfall southwest of Houston and left eight people dead across the country. As cleanup continues and officials assess the destruction from the storm, the main utility provider said it expects to restore power for 1 million customers by the end of Wednesday.
