The China Coast Guard (CCG) took necessary control measures and drove away a Japanese fishing boat and several cruise ships that illegally entered the territorial waters of China's Diaoyu Islands on July 10, Gan Yu, a spokesperson for the CCG, said in a statement on Thursday.
Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islands are an inherent part of China's territory, Gan said, adding that the CCG conducted law enforcement activities in the waters under China's jurisdiction.
"We urge the Japanese side to immediately stop all illegal activities in these waters," Gan said, and warned that China reserves the right to counter otherwise.
