Known for its vivid statues and murals, Jade Emperor Temple in Jincheng, Shanxi Province, is a masterpiece among Taoist temples in China. Built in 1076 and dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the supreme deity in Taoist tradition, the temple is a treasure trove of exquisite cultural relics and impressive architecture. Particularly exceptional are the colored sculptures of the Twenty-Eight Mansions of the Chinese constellations system. These statues, dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), showcase vivid and lively depictions that reflect the style of Taoist sculptures at that time.
