The China Media Group National Institute for Esports Development is established in Beijing, July 12, 2024. /CMG
The China Media Group (CMG) National Institute for Esports Development was established in Beijing on Friday as a boost to China's layout of the new sports industry.
The location of the institute is in Beijing's Xicheng District. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, attended the establishment ceremony. He was joined by Sun Shuo, CPC Secretary of Xicheng District and Xue Jijun, head of the institute, among other government officials.
Esports, as a new digital industry that combines sports, culture, technology and media, has been expanding its boundaries of development in the development of digital economy, Xue said. The establishment of the institute, as a part of CMG's strategic pattern of "5G+4K/8K+AI" technologies, will be of great help for promoting the development esports events in China.
The institute, according to Xue, will enhance its cooperation with the industry circle, launch more overseas communication and seek new methods of promoting cultural communication with esports language.
Sun pointed out that the development of digital economy has become a new source of power for China's economic growth and a significant engine for the country's high-quality development in recent years. It's also an important part of the "4+N" strategy of development of the Xicheng District.
Sun said that Xicheng District will join hands with the institute to further optimize and stimulate the development of the esports industry and build a highland for national industries of animation, video games and esports.
In his congratulation letter to the establishment of the institute, David Lappartient, chairperson of the IOC Esports Commission, wrote that it's a key mission for all esports industry participants around the world, including the institute, to guide the sustainable development of the industry. He believes that the institute will spread the Olympic values in a better way by promoting the development of esports in China.
