Some scientific studies indicate that extreme weather events, including heat waves and rainstorms, are likely to become more frequent or more intense, given the widespread changes in weather patterns. Wu Changhua, chair of the Governing Council of the Asia Pacific Water Forum, says that global warming intensifies extreme weather and that this is becoming the new normal.
