The 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations was held from July 10 to 11 in Qufu, east China's Shandong Province, with the theme "Traditional Culture and Modern Civilization."

Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius, one of the most influential ancient Chinese philosophers.

CGTN Stringer visited South Africa to ask people about their views on Confucianism. Clea Schultz Mofokeng said that the foundational Confucian virtue of "ren" or benevolence is similar to a South African concept known as Ubuntu, which encourages people to be kind to others. Another interviewee, Greta Frieslaar, said she supports universal access to education, which Confucius championed over 2,500 years ago.
