00:53

Libo County in southwest China's Guizhou Province has stepped up efforts to enhance ecological protection to boost its tourism. Xiaoqikong, dubbed "the world's last emeralds on the same latitude" with 92 percent forest coverage, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. With the arrival of the peak tourist season, Libo County's Xiaoqikong scenic spot receives over 35,000 visitors daily. Libo County has embarked on a range of initiatives, including forest plantations, the tending of woods and the reconstruction of low-function forests, to further its ecological goals. Locals benefit from tourism as the area leverages ecological protection for economic growth.
