Nanyang City in central China's Henan Province has recently experienced extreme rainfall, with some areas receiving more than 600 millimeters in 24 hours. On Monday, the meteorological department issued a red alert. The downpour has caused urban flooding and submerged the farmlands.
Henan Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters decided to initiate a Level-I flood emergency response for Nanyang on Tuesday, ordering all the relevant departments to quickly get into emergency flood control mode.
