Russia's Far East has experienced unusually hot weather recently. On Monday, the highest temperature in Novosibirsk exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. People flocked to beaches, riverbanks or fountains to cool off. At the local zoo, polar bears and other animals also rushed to jump into pools to escape the unbearable heat. To prevent accidents such as drowning while citizens are cooling off, the local government has dispatched rescue personnel to patrol beaches and riverbanks.
According to a meteorological department of Russia, the highest temperatures in many cities in the Russian Far East could reach around 37 degrees Celsius in the coming days, which is 6 to 8 degrees higher than normal.
