Six people were confirmed dead after a fire broke out in a 14-story shopping mall in southwest China's Zigong City, Sichuan Province on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire has been put out. Earlier, videos shared online showed thick black smoke rising from the mall.

Rescue efforts are underway, and over 280 firefighters were on site to deal with the huge blaze. Thirty trapped people have been rescued as of 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
