A total of 11 players from Chinese mainland are set to take part in the singles competitions at the U.S. Open that will begin on August 26 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in the New York City borough of Queens.

Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng will play in the men's singles event. Zhang Zhizhen has advanced out of the first round at each of this year's first three Grand Slam tournaments, including reaching the third round at the French Open. He progressed to the third round at the U.S. Open in 2023.

Shang competed in each of the previous three Grand Slams in 2024 as well, and advanced to the third round at the Australian Open. He is set to make his debut at the U.S. Open.

The nine women's players from Chinese mainland who will appear at the U.S. Open this year are Zheng Qinwen, Wang Xinyu, Zhu Lin, Wang Yafan, Wang Xiyu, Zheng Saisai, Wang Qiang, Zhang Shuai and Yuan Yue.

World No. 7 Zheng has the highest ranking among the group. She made it all the way to the final at this year's Australian Open, but struggled at the French Open and Wimbledon Championships. Her best showing at the U.S. Open saw her get to the quarterfinals in 2023.

Wang Xinyu has been playing well in 2024 as she advanced the round of 16 at both the French Open and Wimbledon. Her best performance at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center was also a round of 16 run last year.

Zhu and Wang Yafan made it to the third and second round, respectively, at the U.S. Open in 2023.

Wang Xiyu, Zheng, Wang Qiang, Zhang Shuai and Yuan did not compete in the tournament last year, and Yuan will make her debut in New York this summer.
