The China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday released the applications for its 10 self-developed technologies for the upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

CMG will, for the first time, present programs covering the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as various sporting competitions, with 4K ultra-high-definition and 3D audio effect technologies. One media center and three television studios at the International Broadcast Center (IBC), in addition to a location shooting site at the Eiffel Tower, have been set up to produce these programs.

CMG's 8K broadcast vehicles have made their debut in Europe and will produce 8K international public signals for the first time during the 2024 Olympics. These vehicles are equipped with 8K channel cameras, 8K portable broadcast cameras, monitors and IP switches, all domestically-manufactured by Chinese enterprises.

CMG will combine its media cloud and network to build a system with massive computing power and low latency to provide support for program production on both television and digital platforms.

CMG has enabled its team to work on programs whenever and wherever, in simultaneous cooperation via its media cloud, to improve both the quality of the programs as well as the working efficiency of the production efforts.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been added to CMG's media cloud for transcription writing, translation, dubbing, video editing, analysis and other duties. The technology is also being used to create avatars of guests who will participate in programs at different studios in both Beijing and Paris.

AI will be further utilized to assist CMG's filming and public signal production for multiple events including badminton, sport climbing and artistic gymnastics. This will allow more angles to be created to display the performances of the athletes, while more easily and more accurately capturing the highlights of the competitions.

CMG will also use its complete coverage of China, "Bai Cheng Qian Ping" ("100 cities, 1,000 screens"), to provide customized reports on the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics to audiences in different parts of China based on their preferences and geographical characteristics.

In addition, CMG is presenting an update of its digital platform, Yangshipin, for Paris 2024. Users can interact with the app through its AI function via both text and voice. It will provide firsthand news, including the medal table and competitions results of the Olympics.

CMG has released the HarmonyOS versions of Yangshipin and CMG Sports for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Both apps will function with better security, stability and compatibility.

The interaction between Yangshipin and TV has been enhanced as well. Audiences will be able to not only have access to TV-quality videos via the app on their devices, but also enjoy 3D audio effect during the programs.
