The design for the 2024 Paris Olympic torch is characterized by its champagne color and features a 3D effect of rippling water, symbolizing the River Seine. The wave pattern aligns with the theme of water, as the Olympic torch relay had to cross the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans to reach five French overseas territories.

The torch is also symmetrical, an ode to the plan for the Paris Games to be the first Olympics with an equal number of men and women competing. French designer Mathieu Lehanneur drew inspiration from three key concepts: equality, water, and peace.

Red and silver, the torch for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics embodies the fusion of "fire and ice." Its upward spiral shape resembles two overlapping, fluttering ribbons. The inner red ribbon evokes rising flames, while the outer silver ribbon is reminiscent of ice.
Both the Paris and Beijing torches serve as powerful symbols of how the Olympics can bridge cultures and traditions, and foster a spirit of unity and peace.
