First international youth poetry festival special session for BRICS countries kicks off in China

The first special session for BRICS countries of the International Youth Poetry Festival, jointly hosted by the China Writers Association and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Zhejiang Provincial Committee, kicked off on Friday in east China's Hangzhou City and capital Beijing.

Scheduled from July 19 to 24, the festival will feature 49 poets from Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran and Ethiopia, alongside 23 Chinese poets. They will engage in poetry dialogues to foster mutual understanding and cultural exchange.

Among them are Andrei Cherkasov from Russia, Cida Pedrosa from Brazil, Prithviraj Taur from India, Mxolisi Nyezwa from South Africa, Huda Almubarak from Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Yamani from Egypt, Amel Alsahlawi from the UAE, Alireza Ghazveh from Iran, Seife Temam from Ethiopia and Sangzi from China, gathering along with other young poets to showcase the traditions, innovations and cultural significance of poetry.

Since 1980, the Youth Poetry Festival has successfully held 39 sessions, involving over 570 young poets. It aims to express the voice of youth through poetry, deepen exchanges and mutual learning with other civilizations, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
