Shanghai Port walked over Qingdao Hainiu 5-0 at home on Sunday, extending their winning streak in all competitions to 15 games and tying the Chinese Super League (CSL) record of 13 straight wins kept by Guangzhou and Shandong Taishan.
Having remained undefeated since the 2024 CSL season began, Port led the standings table with 51 points, two above Shanghai Shenhua in the second place, before Sunday's game.
All five goals of Port on Sunday night were scored in the second half by Leo Cittadini, Gustavo and Wu Lei. Gustavo completed a hat trick after netting in the 50th, 51st and 76th minutes. Three of the team's five goals were assisted by Matias Vargas, who has risen to the second place in assists with nine, behind only his teammate Oscar.
Port will host Nantong Zhiyun in their next game on Friday. The CSL leaders are hopeful of beating the league's winning streak record against the bottom team that lost 12 of their 20 games.
