In 2010, Carmen Giménez Abad from Spain was attacked in a case of domestic violence, and the incident left her in a wheelchair. Then, the tragic loss of her newborn son further devastated her. To heal her pain, she put on her "running shoes" – a racing wheelchair – and started "to race." Initially, she could only compete in 100-meter races, but after endurance training, she could even complete marathons. In April this year, she became the first Spanish female wheelchair athlete to participate in the Boston Marathon. She hopes to keep "running," encourage more people facing difficulties and one day fight for an Olympic medal.
