The San Su Shrine in Meishan, Sichuan Province, stands on the former residence of three renowned writers of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127): Su Xun, Su Shi, and Su Zhe. Among them, Su Shi has enjoyed lasting fame. Not only is he one of the most cited poets, but as a civil servant he put the people first, setting an example for all Chinese literati and officials. On June 8, 2022, the shrine received a special visitor: Chinese President Xi Jinping. A diligent scholar of Chinese culture, the president often quotes renowned historical figures, drawing inspiration from their thoughts and actions. He has called on Chinese to strengthen their cultural confidence and learn from their ancestors' integrity, patriotism, and dedication to the nation.
