China's science and technology system has experienced significant reform in recent years. A resolution from the Communist Party of China (CPC) states that deepening scientific and technological structural reform has to target the global frontiers of science and technology, the development of the economy, the major needs of the country, and the health and safety of the people. Gao Yi, associate research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, says that the resolution aims to enhance scientific and technological innovation capabilities.
