"Father" is an artwork created in 1980 that has left an indelible imprint on China's visual art. Now, the famous oil painting of a rural man has been interpreted as a larger-than-life sculpture.

The new "Father" has been unveiled at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, standing at 7 meters high and 5 meters wide. A total of 11 years in the making, the sculpture pays tribute to painter Luo Zhongli's original in intricate 3D detail.

Featuring a wrinkled face, dry lips and an old bowl, both the original and the new sculpture symbolize the tenacity of fathers and the elderly.
