With a record number of hot spots, Bolivia has entered a "critical moment" with departments declaring red and orange alerts due to the latent risk of forest fires, Deputy Minister of Civil Defense Juan Carlos Calvimontes warned on Wednesday.
To date, 11,576 hot spots have been recorded, mostly concentrated in the Amazonian departments of Santa Cruz (east) and Beni (north).
