A forum of the first International Youth Poetry Festival's Special Session for BRICS Countries was held in Beijing on Wednesday.
Young poets from China, Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Ethiopia engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the value and function of poetry, as well as inheritance and innovation.
The participants believed that the BRICS countries have a long-standing history of poetry and should consciously inherit their respective cultural traditions, continuously expand and enrich their national poetry and let poetry better illuminate the world and brighten lives.
They noted that the cultural exchanges among the BRICS countries have a rich history and that poetry serves as a bridge for communication between different nations and peoples. The participants also expressed hope for more activities in the future to deepen cultural exchanges among the BRICS countries, promote mutual learning about civilizations and foster closer people-to-people ties.
