This year marks the 30th anniversary of the aid-Xizang program. At an altitude of 4,750 meters, thousands of solar panels sit between snowy mountains and grasslands in Nagqu City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. It is the first photovoltaic power station in Jiali County. Zhejiang Energy Group invested in and constructed the project, which is tasked with supporting the city of Nagqu.
When operational, the power station is expected to save 20,000 tonnes of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 65,000 tonnes per year. Over the past 30 years, Zhejiang Province has invested over 6 billion yuan (about $825.6 million) to help implement 438 aid-Xizang projects.
