A scientific expedition team in China has discovered the second-largest breeding ground for Tibetan antelopes on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. It is in the western part of the Sanjiangyuan National Park in northwest China's Qinghai Province, with a population of 80,000 to 100,000 antelopes.

The discovery was made after a joint expedition to areas including Amduo County in the northern part of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. The team included personnel from the Shaanxi Institute of Zoology, the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Xizang and the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Amduo County.

Wu Xiaomin, a researcher at the Shaanxi Institute of Zoology and leader of the expedition team, said the current population of Tibetan antelopes in China is over 300,000, mainly distributed in the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve in Xizang, the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve in Qinghai, and the Altun Mountains National Nature Reserve in Xinjiang.
