Watch: Beyond the Games – 'Breaking' global cultural barriers through dance

The summer in Paris is about to get lit as breaking makes its Olympic debut this year! In a major move to attract younger crowds, breaking has been added to the Olympic schedule while surfing and skateboarding return for their second Games along with sport climbing and 3x3 basketball. Mark your calendars folks! You can see fresh faces on August 9 and 10 as B-boys and B-girls will go face to face in spectacular solo battles at Place de la Concorde. The athletes will use a combination of power moves, including windmills, the 6-step and freezes, and improvise to secure the judges' votes and take home the first Olympic breaking medals.

For the breaking community, this inclusion is a validation of their art form and years of dedication. In this episode of THE HYPE- Beyond the Games, we have street dance OGs in the house: Uno Santa, a three-time world street dance champion, artist, singer and dancer; Nicolas Monlouis Zyko, French artist, dancer and choreographer; Aleshonkov Denis, a professional B-boy from Russia; and Zhang Hong, a Chinese B-girl and cyclist. They are ready to share ideas on how breaking's inclusion opens new avenues for growth, potentially inspiring a new generation of hip-hop culture. Get ready y'all, the cypher is about to start, and it's gonna be off the hook!
