Chinese diving prodigy Quan Hongchan is preparing to compete at her second Olympics. The 17-year-old made her name when she won gold in the women's 10m platform three years ago at the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games.

Quan was the youngest member of the Chinese delegation in the Japanese capital, and later became the nation's second-youngest diver to win an Olympic title, after compiling a record-setting score of 466.20 points.

Since then, she has trained under the guidance of five-time Olympic gold medalist Chen Ruolin, and collected individual titles at the World Cup, Asian Games and World Championships.

Quan will be joined by Chen Yuxi to compete in the women's 10m platform events in Paris, both individually and as a synchronized duo.

She says she has put in an immense amount of work to tackle the 207C dive, and saw her efforts pay off this past February in Doha, where she beat Chen for an individual title at the World Championships for the first time.

After experiencing groundbreaking success at the last edition of the Olympics, the teenager believes she has matured.

"When I was a kid, I simply loved diving. Now it feels like more than just passion, it has become my profession. When you compete, you represent a nation and not just yourself. My wish for the team is that we can all stand on the podium," Quan said.
