China has used its Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to guide its relations with countries of differing social systems. Teng Jianqun, director of the Diplomacy Studies Center at Hunan Normal University, says that China is one of the most important mediators in international affairs due to its long-term view of peaceful development.
